About this Consult:
Sylvia is experiencing heaviness, dragging and looseness for the last 3-4 years while attending high intensity exercises classes, especially during star jumps, squat jumps and core exercises. Sylvia has two children aged 11 and 9 years old.
She also has some urinary urgency. She has been diagnosed in the past with mild, grade 1 rectocele and her previous Pelvic Health Physio said she had a high tone pelvic floor, so she’s been working on down-training and not strengthening the pelvic floor.
Sylvia believes the pelvic floor should be rising up to support her during her exercises and consciously tries to activate her pelvic floor while she works out.
She would love to get back to doing all of the exercises in her fitness class, however she also fears that some of them are unsafe for herself (and others in her class) to do from a pelvic health perspective.
What strategies does Antony use to resolve Sylvia’s symptoms by the end of the assessment?
How is she feeling and what is she thinking about 2 years later?
